The Bipartisan Social Security Commission Act of 2026 establishes a Commission on Long-Term Social Security Solvency to recommend legislation for achieving solvency in the Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund and the Federal Disability Insurance Trust Fund. The Commission, composed of 13 members appointed by the President, congressional leaders, and committee chairs, must submit its recommendations within one year of its first meeting. The Commission has the authority to contract with agencies, use the U.S. mails, and secure information from federal departments.
