Artificial Intelligence Environmental Impacts Act of 2026

Introduced·6/8/26

Artificial Intelligence Environmental Impacts Act of 2026 mandates studies and reporting on AI data centers' environmental impacts.

The Artificial Intelligence Environmental Impacts Act of 2026 requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to conduct a comprehensive study on the environmental and energy-related impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. The study will examine energy and water use, air and water quality, local ecosystems, noise and light pollution, energy costs, and greenhouse gas emissions. The EPA must also develop a reporting system for AI data centers to annually report their environmental impacts.
