Federal HB8977, known as the EFFIE Act, amends the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to impose felony penalties for knowingly fraudulent signing of materials required for ballot access in federal elections. This applies to candidates, employees, or agents. Penalties include fines up to $250,000, imprisonment up to 5 years, or both. The Act takes effect on the date of its enactment.
