H.R.8818

To establish grants to combat opioid trafficking.

Introduced·5/14/26

Establishes grants to combat opioid trafficking through multi-jurisdictional task forces.

The bill establishes grants to combat opioid trafficking by authorizing the COPS Director to award grants to eligible entities, including states, local governments, and Indian Tribes. These grants can be used to hire and train law enforcement officers, establish or expand multi-jurisdictional task forces, and procure equipment. At least 20% of the funds are reserved for direct grants to Indian Tribes and multi-jurisdictional task forces. The COPS Director must also provide technical assistance and streamline the grant application process.
