The American Families Gas Tax Relief Act provides a temporary fuel tax holiday for gasoline, diesel fuel, and kerosene. The tax rates for these fuels will be zero for 120 days after the enactment of the Act. The President may extend this period by an additional 90 days if economic conditions warrant it. The Secretary of the Treasury is directed to ensure that the benefits of the tax reduction are passed on to consumers and that fuel prices are adjusted accordingly.
