Servicemember Payment Data Privacy and Security Act prohibits DOD contracts with retailers using certain payment processing equipment.

The Servicemember Payment Data Privacy and Security Act mandates the Secretary of Defense to review retailers' use of covered payment processing equipment, systems, or services. Covered equipment includes those developed, manufactured, or operated by entities from countries of concern. The Secretary must issue guidance prohibiting such equipment and may not contract with retailers using them after January 1, 2027. The act defines countries of concern as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea, and includes entities owned or controlled by these countries.
