The Trade Responsibly for Environmental Emissions Act, or TREE Act, prohibits the import and sale of goods derived from deforestation in interstate commerce. It mandates the United States Trade Representative to categorize countries based on the risk of importing deforestation goods, with three risk levels: Level I (high risk), Level II (moderate risk), and Level III (low risk). The Secretary of the Interior must establish a plan to enforce this prohibition by January 1, 2029.
