Prioritizing Rural Broadband Affordability Act

Introduced·3/27/26

Prioritizing Rural Broadband Affordability Act requires affordability to be considered in awarding grants for rural broadband programs.

The Prioritizing Rural Broadband Affordability Act amends the Rural Electrification Act of 1936 to require the Secretary of Agriculture to consider the affordability of broadband service when determining if a proposed service territory is unserved. This change applies to grants awarded under rural broadband programs administered by the Department of Agriculture. The amendments will take effect one year after the enactment of the Act.
