Federal HB8026, also known as the CLEAR Act, amends section 111 of title 18, United States Code, to establish an enhanced penalty for obstructing federal law enforcement officers of the Department of Homeland Security or the Department of Justice while they are in a vehicle performing official duties. The bill introduces a new subsection (c) that imposes a fine or imprisonment of up to 20 years, or both, for using a vehicle to forcibly assault, resist, intimidate, or interfere with these officers. The existing subsection (c) is redesignated as subsection (e).
