Federal HB8001, the First Responders’ Equipment Access Act, directs the Environmental Protection Agency to amend regulations relating to exemptions for engines and equipment for national security purposes. The bill allows manufacturers and secondary engine manufacturers to request exemptions for engines or equipment intended for use by federal, state, or local agencies in law enforcement, disaster relief, search and rescue, fire response, or emergency medical services.
