Heidi’s Law

Heidi’s Law mandates the inclusion of methadone in federal workplace drug tests and requires periodic updates to the testing guidelines.

Heidi’s Law requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to revise the Mandatory Guidelines for Federal Workplace Drug Testing Programs to include methadone in drug-testing panels. The Secretary of Transportation must then issue regulations to implement these changes in Department of Transportation drug tests. Additionally, the law mandates that the Secretary of Health and Human Services periodically review and update the list of substances tested to include any newly identified drugs.
