H.R.7877

Establishes a demonstration program to test mandatory Medicaid coverage for wound care treatment of epidermolysis bullosa.

The Shane DiGiovanna Act mandates the Secretary of Health and Human Services to create a two-year demonstration program for mandatory Medicaid coverage of wound care treatment for epidermolysis bullosa. The program will cover over-the-counter antihistamines, acetaminophen, antiseptics, zinc oxide, antibiotic ointments, and necessary wound care supplies. The Secretary must submit a report to Congress within a year after the program's conclusion, evaluating its impact on Medicaid expenditures, health outcomes, and recommendations to prevent hospitalizations related to epidermolysis bullosa.
