The Parks to People Active Transportation Act directs the Secretary of Transportation to carry out a program to make grants for the improvement or construction of greenway paths. Eligible organizations can apply for grants to improve or construct greenway paths, including acquiring real property. The Secretary shall consider factors such as community support, safety, and integration with transit services. The Federal share of the cost of a project is generally 80 percent, but can be higher for projects serving disadvantaged communities.
