H.R.7442

National Bridge Funding Reform Act

Introduced·2/9/26

National Bridge Funding Reform Act eliminates Carbon Reduction and PROTECT Programs, reallocating funds to a new bridge formula program.

The National Bridge Funding Reform Act eliminates the Carbon Reduction Program and PROTECT Program, redirecting their funding to a new national bridge program. This program will distribute funds based primarily on overall deck area, with 75% allocated by the proportion of total deck area and 25% by the proportion of poor condition bridges. The Act allows states flexibility in using these funds for bridge replacement, rehabilitation, preservation, protection, and construction, including on non-Federal-aid highways.
