Establishes a Medicare Advance Directive Certification Program to encourage beneficiaries to adopt advance directives.
The Medicare Advance Planning for Care Act, also known as the MAP for Care Act, amends title XVIII of the Social Security Act to establish a Medicare Advance Directive Certification Program. The program encourages Medicare beneficiaries to voluntarily adopt and maintain certified advance directives, which are electronically stored written instructions outlining medical treatment preferences and the designation of a health care proxy. The Secretary of Health and Human Services is tasked with implementing the program within five years of enactment.
