DRIVER Act mandates vehicle manufacturers and fleet owners to provide owners access to vehicle data without charge or restrictions.
The DRIVER Act, or Data Rights for Information and Vehicle Electronics in Real-time Act, requires motor vehicle manufacturers and fleet owners to provide vehicle owners with access to their vehicle data. This access must be free, in real-time, and without restrictions on how the data is used for lawful purposes. Fleet owners must allow drivers to opt out of data sales, except in cases involving commercial or governmental fleet vehicles where the data is used for profiling outside employment.
