Streamline Transit Projects Act allows transit agencies to assume certain environmental review responsibilities.
The Streamline Transit Projects Act amends chapter 53 of title 49, United States Code, to allow eligible transit agencies to assume certain responsibilities relating to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. Eligible recipients, defined as direct recipients of funds located in urbanized areas with a population of more than 200,000, can assume responsibilities for categorical exclusion determinations, environmental review, consultation, and other related actions. The Secretary of Transportation may assign these responsibilities, subject to criteria established by the Secretary.
