Prevent Government Shutdowns Act provides automatic continuing appropriations during lapses in appropriations.

The Prevent Government Shutdowns Act ensures automatic continuing appropriations for programs, projects, and activities in the event of a lapse in appropriations. It provides funds for 14 calendar days and extends for additional 14-day periods if the lapse continues. The act restricts travel expenditures for Members of Congress and certain officers or employees during these periods, with exceptions for returning to the seat of government, travel within the National Capital Region, and national security events.
