The Shutdown Student Loans for Feds Act provides federal student loan borrower relief for federal employees during government shutdowns. It suspends loan payments for federal employees during any lapse in appropriations of 14 days or more. The Secretary of Education must also treat suspended payments as regular payments for loan forgiveness programs and ensure no interest accrues on these loans. The act retroactively takes effect from September 30, 2025.
