The Geothermal Gold Book Development Act requires the Department of the Interior to develop and publish a "Gold Book" containing standard procedures and guidelines for environmentally responsible geothermal operations on federal lands. This includes procedures for land use planning, lease sales, exploration, permitting, construction, production, and appeals. The Department must consult with other federal agencies and outside stakeholders before publishing the Gold Book. The Gold Book must be reviewed and revised at least every five years.
