H.R.491

Equal COLA Act

Introduced·1/16/25

Equal COLA Act aims to align cost-of-living adjustments for Federal Employees Retirement System annuities with those of the Civil Service Retirement.

The Equal COLA Act seeks to amend title 5 of the United States Code to ensure that cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) for annuities under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) match those under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS). This adjustment is intended to be effective from December 1 of each year, based on the percent change in the price index for the base quarter of the year over the previous year. The bill applies to any annuity covered by this section, regardless of its commencement date.
