Microplastics Safety Act

Microplastics Safety Act directs the FDA to study and report on human health impacts of microplastics in food and water.

The Microplastics Safety Act mandates the Secretary of Health and Human Services, through the FDA, to conduct a comprehensive study on the human health impacts of microplastics in food and water. The study will identify major exposure pathways, assess effects on children’s health, the endocrine system, cancer, chronic illness, and reproductive health, and provide recommendations for addressing these impacts. A report detailing the study's findings and conclusions must be submitted to Congress within one year of the Act's enactment.
