The Back the Blue Act of 2025 makes it unlawful to travel across state lines or internationally to evade prosecution or confinement for killing, attempting to kill, or conspiring to kill a federal judge, federal law enforcement officer, or federally funded public safety officer. It also criminalizes assaulting federally funded state or local law enforcement officers while on duty or former officers due to their past service. Penalties include fines and imprisonment. The Act mandates the Attorney General to issue regulations allowing certain law enforcement officers to carry firearms.
