The EVEST Act automatically enrolls eligible veterans in the Department of Veterans Affairs patient enrollment system.

The EVEST Act, or Ensuring Veterans’ Smooth Transition Act, mandates automatic enrollment of eligible veterans in the patient enrollment system of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs must enroll veterans within 60 days of receiving necessary information. The bill also requires the Secretary to provide veterans with notice of their enrollment, instructions on opting out, and information on re-enrollment.
