The End Junk Fees for Renters Act prohibits owners of covered dwelling units from collecting application fees, tenant screening fees, and late fees from tenants. The Act defines a covered dwelling unit as one that is federally backed or insured. The appropriate regulator must also require owners to disclose total monthly dues, past litigation, ongoing pest and maintenance issues, and rent increases over the past 10 years. The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection and the Federal Trade Commission must issue a rule within 180 days of the Act's enactment.
