The Expanding Seniors Access to Mental Health Services Act seeks to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to enhance access to mental health services under the Medicare program. It includes services for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses, excluding those provided to hospital or skilled nursing facility inpatients. The act also excludes clinical social worker services from the skilled nursing facility prospective payment system. The changes will apply to items and services furnished on or after January 1, 2026.
