LAND Act Land And National Defense Act

Introduced·3/14/25

LAND Act requires foreign purchasers of U.S. agricultural land to adhere to home country restrictions.

The LAND Act mandates that foreign purchasers of U.S. agricultural land must comply with the same restrictions as U.S. citizens and nationals in their home country. It establishes a U.S. Land Protection Task Force to oversee compliance and violations. The Task Force, composed of the Secretary of Agriculture, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, the National Security Division of the Department of Justice, and the Secretary of State, will report to Congress on the sale of agricultural land to foreign purchasers.
