The bill establishes the Fort Ontario Holocaust Refugee Shelter National Historical Park in New York as a unit of the National Park System. The purpose is to preserve, protect, and interpret the resources associated with the 982 World War II refugees housed at Fort Ontario from 1944 to 1946. The Secretary of the Interior can acquire land for the park through donation, purchase, or exchange, with state-owned land only by donation. The park will not be established until the Secretary determines a sufficient quantity of land has been acquired.
