Prohibits federal eminent domain over agricultural land if an alternative is available.
The bill, known as the "Not In My Barn Yard Act," prohibits the federal government from exercising eminent domain over agricultural land if a feasible alternative to the public use is available. Agricultural land is defined as land used for farming, ranching, forestry, or timber production, excluding land not exceeding ten acres with annual gross receipts under $1,000. The prohibition does not apply to eminent domain exercises that began before the bill's enactment.
