The Unlocking Housing Supply Through Streamlined and Modernized Reviews Act seeks to streamline environmental reviews for specific housing-related activities by reclassifying them under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. This includes activities such as tenant-based rental assistance, rehabilitation of residential buildings, and new construction of up to four scattered site existing dwelling units. The bill also mandates an annual report summarizing findings on review times and administrative cost reductions, particularly in the affordable housing sector.
