Federal SB1500 eliminates cost-sharing for diagnostic and supplemental breast examinations.
Federal SB1500, the Access to Breast Cancer Diagnosis Act of 2025, mandates that group health plans and health insurance issuers offering group or individual health insurance coverage cannot impose cost-sharing requirements for diagnostic and supplemental breast examinations. This applies to plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2026. Diagnostic breast examinations evaluate abnormalities from screening exams or detected by other means, while supplemental breast examinations screen for breast cancer based on personal or family medical history.
