Bus Operator Safety and Security Act sets requirements for operator workstations on new fixed route buses.
The Bus Operator Safety and Security Act amends title 49, United States Code, to establish specific requirements for operator workstations on new fixed route buses. These workstations must reach from the bus floor to the ceiling, fully enclose the workstation, and prevent unwanted entry while not impeding the operator's view. This applies to buses 30 feet or longer with a useful life of 10 years or more, purchased with federal funds, excluding those from section 5311. The requirements take effect two years after the enactment of this Act unless a labor organization waives them.
