Lowers the minimum age for pension plan participation to 18 under certain conditions.
The Helping Young Americans Save for Retirement Act amends the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to lower the minimum age for pension plan participation to 18. This applies to employees who have at least 500 hours of service in two consecutive 12-month periods. The changes also include modifications to the Internal Revenue Code to align with these new standards. These amendments will take effect for plan years beginning one year after the date of enactment of this Act.
