Rural Hospital Stabilization Act of 2025 authorizes grants to rural hospitals for facility upgrades and operational costs.
The Rural Hospital Stabilization Act of 2025 amends the Public Health Service Act to authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to provide grants to rural hospitals. These grants can be used for projects to acquire, repair, and upgrade hospital systems, facilities, and equipment, as well as for operational costs, including payroll expenses and debt payments, excluding those for hospital leadership positions. A rural hospital is defined as one located at least 15 miles from the nearest hospital and 20 miles from the nearest urbanized area.
