Provides flexibility in kindergarten and pre-kindergarten enrollment for children in the District of Columbia.

The Flexibility in Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten Applications Act of 2026 allows parents to defer kindergarten enrollment for one year if their child is between the ages of 4 and 5. It also permits children who are 5 years old to enroll in either pre-kindergarten or kindergarten. Additionally, children who are 6 years old can enroll in either kindergarten or first grade. The bill updates the public school lottery application process to accommodate these changes.
