The Expanding Fertility Treatment Options Amendment Act of 2025 mandates that health insurers in the District of Columbia provide coverage for elective oocyte retrieval and cryopreservation, including proactive fertility care, at least three complete oocyte retrievals, unlimited embryo transfers, and storage of frozen oocytes for a minimum of 10 years. This coverage applies to individual, small group, and large group health benefit plans, with the DC Healthcare Alliance program also required to provide coverage starting January 1, 2027.
