The First Responder Retention Efforts Amendment Act of 2025 modifies the salary and benefits for rehired police officers in the District of Columbia. Senior police officers are now capped at the salary of a Class 1, Step 5 Officer and are ineligible for longevity pay. Senior police lieutenants are limited to the salary of a Class 5, Step 3 lieutenant and also ineligible for longevity pay.
