Emergency Rental Assistance Program Reform Congressional Review Emergency Amendment Act of 2025

Complete·6/25/25

The bill reforms the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) in the District of Columbia, allowing courts to order housing providers to comply.

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program Reform Amendment Act of 2025 amends the Rental Housing Act of 1985 to provide courts with the authority to order housing providers to comply with ERAP requests for payment information. If a tenant has an approved ERAP application that would cover the full amount of rent owed, the court can stay the eviction. The housing provider must cancel the eviction if notified by the tenant within 48 hours of the scheduled date. The Mayor is required to issue regulations to implement these provisions.
