The Architect and Engineer Good Samaritan Amendment Act of 2025 adds provisions to the District of Columbia Code to offer limited civil liability protection for licensed architects and professional engineers. These professionals are shielded from liability, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct, when they voluntarily assist at the scene of or in connection with a life-threatening emergency in the built environment. This protection applies if they act in good faith, without compensation, and at the direction or request of a federal or District official.
