Raises wages for participants in the Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program.
The Pay Our Youth a Fair Summer Wage Amendment Act of 2025 amends the Youth Employment Act of 1979 to increase the minimum wage for participants in the Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program from $6.25 to $10.00 per hour. The act also removes the previous wage differential for youth aged 22 through 24, setting a uniform wage for all participants aged 16 through 24. The fiscal impact statement is adopted from the Budget Director, and the act will take effect following approval by the Mayor or, if vetoed, after the Council overrides the veto.
