Solar Shade Expansion Amendment Act of 2025 amends the Clean and Affordable Energy Amendment Act of 2008 to mandate a solar canopy feasibility study.

The Solar Shade Expansion Amendment Act of 2025 amends the Clean and Affordable Energy Amendment Act of 2008 to require the Department of Energy and the Environment to conduct and publish a feasibility study on installing solar canopies in at least 20 locations in the District. The study will analyze the potential to generate solar energy, the desirability of providing shade, the costs of installation, and any barriers to installation. The Department of Energy and the Environment may issue grants to private entities to support the installation of solar canopies on private property.
