The Case Closure and Witness Support Amendment Act of 2025 establishes a Witness Protection and Assistance Program in the District of Columbia. This program aims to support witnesses in criminal cases by providing protection, relocation, and various forms of assistance. The Mayor, in coordination with the United States Attorney’s Office and other regional jurisdictions, will administer the program. Assistance may include protection, relocation, housing, transportation, identity documents, living expenses, mental health support, wage reimbursement, childcare, and other necessary services.
