Draft Text

Delaware SB252 requires health-care practitioners to offer ultrasound and fetal heart tone auscultation services before terminating a pregnancy.

Delaware SB252 amends Title 24 of the Delaware Code to mandate that health-care practitioners offer ultrasound imaging and auscultation of fetal heart tones to patients before terminating a pregnancy, except in medical emergencies. The ultrasound must provide a clear image of the fetus's dimensions, external and internal organs, and the patient must be offered the opportunity to hear the fetal heart tone. The patient may choose not to view the ultrasound image or listen to the fetal heart tone.
