An Act To Amend Title 9 And Title 14 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Property Tax Collection.

Complete·8/12/25

Delaware HB241 amends property tax collection laws, allowing payment plans and waiving penalties for certain taxpayers.

Delaware HB241 amends Titles 9 and 14 of the Delaware Code to modify property tax collection procedures. It allows residential taxpayers to enter into payment plans for school taxes if their property is their primary residence and their tax bill exceeds the previous year's by $300 or more. Payment plans must allow for at least three equal installments without interest, penalties, or late fees if payments are made on time. In the first year after a general reassessment, counties must waive penalties for residential taxpayers who comply with these payment plans.
