SB037

Modification of Bond Hearing Officer Process

Complete·4/2/26

Allows local elected judges to preside over weekend bond hearings in Colorado.

This bill modifies the bond hearing officer process in Colorado to allow local elected judges to preside over weekend bond hearings. Currently, bond hearing officers hold these hearings, but the bill aims to enhance public safety and accountability by enabling local judges to set bonds. The chief judge of the judicial district can assign weekend bond hearing cases to a judicial officer from their district or to the bond hearing officers. Bond hearing officer staff will provide administrative support to the judicial district if requested by the chief judge.
