Colorado HCR1005 proposes a constitutional amendment to bar legislators from serving a term immediately after filling a vacancy in the same district.

Colorado HCR1005 seeks to amend the Colorado constitution to prevent individuals from serving as state legislators for a term immediately following one where they filled a vacancy in the same district. If approved by at least 55% of voters at the 2026 general election, the amendment will be submitted to the registered electors for a vote. The amendment aims to ensure that legislators are not automatically eligible to serve the next term after filling a vacancy.
