Load Text

Colorado HB1022 allows people 72 years or older to opt out of jury service.

Colorado HB1022 introduces a new option for people aged 72 and older to either temporarily or permanently opt out of jury service. Starting January 1, 2027, judges or jury commissioners must allow these individuals to opt out if they request it. The opt-out can be temporary or permanent, and the individual must provide proof of age. This proof is not a public record and should not be disclosed. The bill also states that those who opt out are still eligible for jury qualification once the opt-out expires.
