California SB32 requires the Department of Managed Health Care to create and adopt standards for the geographic accessibility of perinatal units to ensure timely access for insureds by July 1, 2027. These standards must be no longer in time or distance than those imposed for Medi-Cal managed care plans. The department must consult with the State Department of Health Care and other stakeholders, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the California Hospital Association, in developing these standards.
