Establishes criteria for diagnostic math assessments in kindergarten and grades 1 and 2.
Requires the state board to approve criteria for selecting evidence-based, culturally, linguistically, and developmentally appropriate diagnostic assessments for pupils in kindergarten and grades 1 and 2. The criteria shall include, at a minimum, findings by the governing board or body of the local educational agency that the diagnostic assessment has been validated to assess pupils’ mathematics knowledge in the grade or grades in which the diagnostic assessment will be administered, and that the assessment meets all of the criteria delineated in subdivisions (a) and (b) of Section 52986.
