California SB1024 mandates that firefighters who give birth, experience a stillbirth, or a miscarriage after 20 weeks of gestation are entitled to 26 weeks of fully paid postpartum and recovery leave. This leave is contingent on the firefighter having been employed by the fire department for at least 12 months and having at least 1,250 hours of service in the 12 months prior to the leave. The leave must be taken continuously and without regard to employment classification.
